New guy...
My wife and I have test driven a '98 w/ 102k miles on it and really like the car. The only thing wrong with it is a malfunctioning sun roof drive mechanism. My other vehicles are not nearly as fancy, so I'm wondering if I'm going to be getting myself into a money pit here. I know the drivetrain will last forever, but I'm concerned about the surrounding car itself.
My interest here stems from a limited selection of diesel powered automobiles in the US... we tried the VW Jetta TDI and it is not rommy enough. Since I'm working with a group in the Saint Louis area promoting use of biodiesel, I'm working towards replacing my personal fleet with oil-burners. I have a '97 GMC Suburban turbodiesel, and am looking to replace my wife's '01 Jeep Cherokee with something diesel powered as well, hence the E300 interest.
Thanks for any information or advice!

as mentioned previously.. check out MercedesShop.com under the diesel section.... Perform a search for w210, OM606....
The cars are great. Watch out for the glow plug issue, Some cars have a paint problem were rust starts creeping up, but usually I've head MBUSA takes care of it....
I'm pretty sure that the BioDiesel you would running should be fine.... There have been many of those from the MercedesShop that have run B100 in their E300 with no issues to the fuel system or fuel lines.
You'll love the mileage from these cars on the highway as well.
