Need Help With Comand Install On A 97 E-class
I need help installing my new US spec comand unit on my 1997 E300 Diesel. I have the physical install complete. The brackets have been swapped, and the unit now sits in place. I have most of the electrical hooked-up, the unit powers up & both radio and cd are functioning. My question is this: I read that the existing wiring harness must be modified (ie. wires from plug "C" must be removed and installed into plugs "C1" and "C2" which must be purchased separately. I have all the info about what pin# goes where, however the wire colors on my car are different from the ones described in the threads I've read. Also how do you tell which pin# is what? It doesn't appear to be labeled.. Does my car require a can bus interface? What do I need to do to install this??? The unit I have has been modified by Nav-Tv to be able to watch DVD's. Also the car it came from was a 2001 e430, but the unit is from an older CLK. Is it possible that Nav-Tv reprogrammed it to work in an E-Class?? I've searched all over MBWORLD but all I've found are instructions for 203's. I purchased a comand unit from someone who had nav-tv do the converson for thier car (2002 e430). I've never had comand installed in my car. Since I do not have the "c" connector mentioned, how do I install this unit in my 1997 E300. Do I need a canbus converter, or can I get the signals I need from the ODB-II connector under the dash? Nav-tv will not answer my questions, or provide me with any instructions because I'm not one of thier authorized dealers and I didn't purchase the unit directly from them. Has anyone installed one on a 1997??? Please help!!!!
