transmission fluid

I own a 1999 MB E320 with 141,000 on it. I have no service records for it so I'm starting from scratch. I have no idea if or when any scheduled maintenance was preformed but it appears to have been maintained. What concerns me is it came from a "corner car lot" so the car may be "ify." I just had the oil changed and now I want to tackle getting all the fluids changed. So, I've heard different stories about the automatic transmission having special fluid or the transmission is sealed. What is your experience on changing fluids. Do I take it to a local shop or does it have to be an authoirized MB shop? Can a local shop change the power steering, brake fluid, and rear differential?

My experience is oil, atf and rear diff fluid changes can be done with 1 (for oil change) or 2 sets of Rhino ramps in your driveway. Tranny fluid/filter is easy and there are plenty on online videos for this. Ask other MB owners in your area about who they work with for service and develop a "relationship" with that shop. You will pay a premium for dealer visits. PS and brake fluid exchanges can be done via turkey baster method (Google it) or by your indy shop. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum.
