installation of cd changer
i originally bought my car without the cd changer. i am interested in installing the oem cd changer to my 97 e320. has anyone ever done that and if so, any suggestions on how to do it. i know it is a plug and play system but i would like to know how to get to the cable wire itself.
thnx

For your 97 E320, like my 98 E430 which does not use the fiber optic wiring, you can also use the Alpine CHM-S620 or CHM-S630 CD Changer. Mine was installed under the trunk hat rack where the speakers are located. To use the Alpine you also need a wiring interface called 'MBZIL'. Any good Auto Audio shop will be able to do this type of install if you are not a Do-It-Yourself type of guy.

mark, yesterday i tried to look for the wiring like you had suggested. i pulled out the easily removable panel where the tailights are and did not see the cable wiring. i lifted up the trunk carpet and saw a rubber mat that was held firmly in place.
did u mean that i have to remove the entire panel over the left rear tire. they are held inplace by fasteners.
thnks.
kev, and oh by the way , a long time ago u mention about tinting. did u recommend 25 percent on the rear side windows and 30 percent on the rear window.

2 Remove the Drivers side Trunk carpet (The one that covers the L/R quarter panel and the wheel well) the wiring will be taped to the main harness going to the tail lites the Plug is visable there.
Let me know if you cant find it
