W210 strange steering wheel issue
Hi I have a 1996 w210 e320,
This is the second time this issue has popped up in the past month so I am getting worried it may be something of concern.
Both times were as follows:
I came back to my car after a few hours of it being parked, turned on an started driving, everything seemed fine, then I need to make a hard right turn. As I was turning the wheel it felt like the wheel couldn't turn any more at about 130° and I applied some more force and the wheel sort of "clonked" and was able to steer normally.
its very hard to describe the feeling of the wheel its like the equivalent of popping a pimple I guess????
before these two occurrences this has never happened

I would guess you have something like ball joints that are binding up a bit when you turn more than usual. Normal wear items on front suspensions are ball joints, and tie rod ends. You should have them checked by an alignment shop. Tell them the story. There is almost certainly one thing causing the feeling in the steering. If they want to replace everything on your front end be suspicious that they don't know what is wrong.
