Youcanic Code Reader and 38 Pin Arriving Today...

SRS light is back on after I seemingly fixed it by taking apart the front passenger seat and cleaning/reconnecting everything. I decided to splurge and buy the Youcanic reader to reset the light and diagnose the issue. Looking forward to having this tool for my other rides, too.

Got the scanner this weekend. In a word: impressive. Impressive build quality. Impressive screen size and resolution. Impressive comprehensive support for vehicles. Impressive functional options. Wow. Best money I've ever spent on a repair tool.

Worked like a dream on my W210. I reset my SRS light and then ran -- and emailed the report -- to my email box. Turns out there are a heck of a lot of errors in my ECU. I'm not sure I understand all of them or how to fix them. Seriously. I'm not qualified to interpret these codes (I'd appreciate any insights this community may have):

Hey Plutoe, googled "stored faults." Not sure what I'm supposed to find, there's a crapload of related information that comes up. I'm going to infer from your post that my list of error codes are historical and a non-issue. That'd be great if true. Cheers.

after reading the manual, what happened after you cleared all the faults, drove around a bit-------what returned if any?

3pm edit--look what I found with a simple search-------http://benzbits.com/w203/SRSWiring.pdf-

Does it matter that this doc appears to be for the W203?

After I cleared the codes, the SRS light returned immediately upon start up. I'm going to pull the door trim and look at the wiring to the side airbag. Maybe unplug and clean the terminals with contact cleaner and then snap back together. Hopefully I won't set off the bag's detonator. : (

After much research, I decided NOT to try and clean the side airbag contacts. Instead I found a post that said the under-seat connectors should be cleaned with contact spray. So I did that. Reset the SRS lamp with my Youcanic tool and then disconnected the battery for a few hours.

When I fired her up, the SRS light was gone. : ). But the ASR and ABS warning messages appeared. Youcanic said the error code was because the steering angle sensor was uninitiated or something. I recalled that if I turned the wheel all the way left and then right it would reset the component. It did.

All dashboard lights are off now. Fingers crossed. Hoping this helps somebody in the future with the same issues. (FWIW, my 2000 E320 4matic has only 78k miles).

Dagnammit. The SRS light is back on. : (

Looks like cleaning the side airbag electrical contact is next. If that doesn't work I'm afraid it's the dealership next... $$$$$. : (
