2001 E430 3 malfunctions

Good morning, so this week on Tuesday the battery on my 2001 E430 died. I charged it with my charger 24/7 till this morning when I chose to drive it. For a day it was charging and after it was fully charged. This morning after driving for 10-15 mins I recieved 3 malfunctions. ABS, ESP, and BAS. I don't know what to do, I think this might come up because the battery died. If anyone who knows can help, it would be greatly appreciated. I think this could be because of the battery but I wanted to see what people on the forum would think/suggest before I take the car to a dealer.

Thanks

Simply charging it may not be sufficient to bring a chemically deficient battery back to normal. What should be done is to test the battery's internal resistance using a resistance load or capacitor load tester. When a battery dies it undergoes some chemical destruction. How little or how much determines its salvagability via a battery charger. Many neighborhood auto parts stores offer free battery testing and can only takes a few minutes. So you'll need to pull that 50 lb battery and lug it to the store.

x2 on what raymond has said. That's the reason why we need to change the battery every so often. When battery chemical dies, it will no longer hold charge. These chemicals will deplete anywhere between 3 - 5 years, depending on condition and it's chemical. Some people will say their battery had lasted longer than what's listed, but like many other mass produce products, there's always variables, some is on higher side of it, some is lower side of it.

Also, when you run the battery down, chemicals depletes faster than natural use. Actually, way faster. If your battery got anything below 11.5v, it's just as good as dead. Again, it's all depending on how much chemicals were left. If your battery were new, then it may have just that much more chemical than the older ones, to hold charge. Also it all depending on how good the battery originally. Those name brand batteries are just that much more better than no name brand or Chinese batteries.

Unless you can borrow battery tester, yeah, drag it down to the nearest auto parts store and have them test it.

Lastly, above is for normal lead-acid batteries. Does not apply to much newer batteries as each have completely different chemical properties.
