brake upgrade
18" Monoblocks,Id like to upgrade to drilled rotors and better pads.My concern is dust and Id deff. like better stopping. What do you pros reccamend.
Is brembro the way to go?Any feedback will help.thanks

Mixed opinions on Portafields pads, but generally consensus on their benefit of a significant reduction in dust.
I did 4 Brembo drilled rotors, 4 StopTech braided lines, 4 Axxis Deluxe PLUS pads, and labor for $900 on my 2000 E430.
No dust, no noise, better than stock stopping power, no rusty rotors, trick look.

In single stop senarios(emergency braking, not track application), best upgrade to shorten stopping distances are to upgrade tires. They are the absolute limiting factor in braking distances. After that would be well balance suspension and brake pads. Rotors don't make much of a difference.
Best upgrade available would be the big brake kit. Big brakes kits main feature is a much higher heat capacity. This is most useful at the track. StopTech has the ability to vary piston sizes to maintain brake balance versus other companies which use fixed piston sizes. If the brake balance is thrown off, then stopping distance become longer. With the big brake kits, you will also get better pedal feel and better pedal modulation. Big brake kits usually require larger wheels and spoke clearance. Please see wheel fitment charts for that. TOU violation
If would like to stay with stock sized wheels, or just don't need the features of the big brake kit, you can upgrade the lines, pads, fluid and rotors. Lines well help with stiffer pedal feel. Changing out the fluid will bring up the boiling points so the fluid doesn't boil over so easily. Pads will increase the co-efficient of friction. Pads with higher maximum operating temperatures reduce pad fade also. Rotors assist in keeping temperatures down.
Freeway and street driving usually doesn't raise temperatures of brake systems that high, so big brakes kits aren't necessary. They certainly do look good though.
