I have a 2011 E550. When the car is at an idle and I tap the throttle slightly, the RPMs continue to go up until about 2400 and then drop back down. If I tap the pedal again while the RPMs are going up, it stops and drops back to a normal idle. To explain, it feels like the throttle sticks for a few seconds. It does it when driving or idling. This just started. The check engine light was on but by the time I got to a place to plug a reader in the light had gone off. Any suggestions?

The codes are still there; pull them anyway. The throttle valve is controlled by a stepper motor with values determined by the accelerator pedal position sensor.
