Whats the best Xenon bulb?

I have stock Xenon lights, 2000 E430 Sport. I want to change my stock Xenon bulbs to brighter ones. I'm tired of the "white" light look. Not as bright as other Euro cars. Only when I first turn them on do they look cool, bluish purple. The lights remind me of Halogen lights after they warm up.
Please help

the oem xenons are 4300k. take a look at the following pic to see the differences in colors between the diff bulbs. if you dont want to go too blue/purple but upgrade from the 4300, i would recommend the Philips 6000K Ultinons/Cool Power Xenons.

Philips D2R 4300K. You must change both side to keep color & brightness in sync.

Don't go w/ higher temperature, you'll get better color, but brightness is diminissed significantly

A new pair of Philips D2R run about $70/both. Avoid dealer, you'll probably pay five times as much, for identical bulbs.

With xenon bulb, you'll lose about 10-20% of brighness per year (compared to previous year), on average. It's been 4-5 years for your car, so it's about time to change.

Brand new bulb from PIAA. Costly as hell - about $470 a set. I have not seen them in action yet.

It's funny, almost like Porches or Ferrari come out with a car advertised with "coolest stereo system on the market today"

One thing I know for sure is that there will be a lot of sucker putting money into this crap

Do you know for sure that if you go to ,,,say,,6K Xenons,,,you lose alot of brightness? I was contemplating changing mine before they go out(3 yrs old)
and getting a little hotter bulb.

Alrite Steve! Purple lites will look real tight with silver. Imagine the effect of your reprogrammed, evo-pulleyed E appearing in some poor dude's rearview mirror and those purple spots menacingly becoming bigger and bigger......

Forget about brightness if you're doing city runs most of the time. Upgrade your fogs to HID and use those when your ageing eyes get tired or when u hit some ghetto part of town

That's the beauty with having projector xenon. With the reflector xenon, the only way you'll have purple look is to go w/ higher temperature, even with that, the purple look is different than what seen in projector xenon (reflector xenon has constant color, no different from angle of view). And the brightness take a hit severely as you go w/ higher temperature.

If you go w/ reputable projector xenon, even w/ standard 4100-4300K, you'll get that distint purple look, created by the lens effect: color change based on angle of view, bright, sharp cut-off.

If you drive in front of an Audi, Honda S2000, BMW E46, Lexus RX330, or Mitsubishi Evo, that effect is quite obvious. And all of these cars run w/ standard 4300K.

ZAM,

I have the new style projector headlights and the 8500K Hid kit. The visibility is horrible. Looks nice because of the blueness but hurts my eyes after driving for along time.

What is a good replacement for the kit I have?

Thanks.

Im gonna go with the 6K xenons, ultinons I think they are,Philips also. But $280 per pair dude You have any connections in the bulb dept.? (Suvlights.com)

Element,,I put a blueish H6W in there, its no different when lit, when its off it has a blueish kinda look, you get no light from that sucker anyhow.

You should find a way to retrofit the lens from Hella projector (pretty much same size), then put in 4300K bulb. That way, traffic in front of you will see purple (the distint purple xenon, created by lens, not the high temperature color), but from driver point of view, it's bright & white light.

The better option is to fit projector xenon from either BMW e46, Mercedes E500/55, or Audi A6/RS6 into your headlight housing. Since they're all 90mm, they should fit, only mounting point need to be retrofit.

I have a pair of lens from the Hella projectors, if you are interest, pls let me know.

You need to take out that 8000K bulb. Anything higher than 5000K will hammer your eyes real bad on the long run. Manufacture don't put them into car (even on the most exotic or racy one) for a reason.

The Mitsubishi Evo, with all that racy look, still use Philips 4300K D2S. It's purple look from any angle, except from driver: bright & bright.

Visit hidplanet forum for more info

I decided on the 6000K Xetronic Aqua blue bulbs,,which I found for $209 per pair, shipped no tax.I was gonna get the 8000K deep blue ones but it seems the consensus is that they are only for show, and dont give off the light needed. They should look nice.My Hi beams are 4300K Philips Crystals,as are my fogs,(had PIAA in there, they burned out quick)which right now are the same color as my factory Xenons.

Steve, glad the Philips Crystals worked out (but shoudln't they be 4500 or 5000K?????) - much better color match with the HIDs than the Sylvanias and the other Philips

I am always in front of Audis, S2000s, Evo's bimmmers and of course RX's I especially like the way all the Audi HID's change color very noticeably with the angle. Do your RS6 projectors have the same effect Zam?

I kept the boxes storing spares,,,H1 is 4000K,and H7's are 4300K. I like to keep those other folks behind me too Dave,,give em an eyeful O Remus,,

With the 6000K in there,it should look tuff,,and Im doubting I will lose any brightness.Im gonna stay with the Philips in the other applications, they seem durable and look fine.
Xetronic says that their bulbs dont start up blueish then go white after they warm up like the OEM xenons.

I've had guys run up and down chasing my car on the freeway simply to check my light. From far away, it's somewhat purple. Close on and driver point of view, just pure white light. I can't ask for any more

My headlight is no difference than any RS6 you see out there. Audi headlight, especially the RS6, receive a very high remark on the HID forum (hidplanet)

And they're very bright.

I just put in 6000K Xetronic Xenons,,,they light up aqua blue, and stay that color.I am happy with these, and there is a slight loss of illumination, but no biggie.
