Cluster problem
What I can tell you right now is,the cluster refuse to turn itself off. So does the radio. When I push the button, the "code" will come on screen (I got the code from MB USA but haven't try them yet). Speedo, tach and temp gauge work but gas gauge won't. All three LCD screen is out of commission. None of the warning light will come on after turning the key for bulb/light check. Checked the door switch but it seems to be working because the interior lights go out after I close the door. Scan the car, but so far, nothing is on the scan (I have some unrelated codes such as AC, but I doubt it's the cause). So to check if it's indeed my cluster, I got myself another cluster.
The cluster I bought is on the way. According to the picture on ebay, it look good, or shall I say it have what I need. I plan to send my original cluster for a repair, but I needed one to certify my car for road-going. Cluster I got have same part number.
I did some search on the net and here, and all have the problem but none have the solution as to what caused it, or how they solve it. So here I am.
Did anyone here had/have same problem? And if so, how did you solve it? Have you found out what was the cause? Reason why I'm asking is that the cluster I bought won't be here until 18th of this month. So in the meantime trying to find what can I do until then.
Anyway, once the replacement cluster arrive, I'll see if that will, at least, confirm or deny my suspicion for the cluster. The fuel sender came up on my scan, but I need to drive around and burn some fuel before I can get to it. Because of the broken gauge/sender, I filled the tank to the top.
I'm not trying to bring the car up to it's pristine condition. I'll be happy to just pass the safety inspection we have here and just drive.
