Hesitation on acceleration from idle or rough idle.
Solving a potential problem for others:
I had issues with idle on occasion or hesitation when accelerating from idle (moving or stationary). This was not always prevalent and appeared to happen when warming up rather than cold or hot. Intermittent problem which is frustrating. No error codes. Not the MAF or CPS or accelerator sensor as I had already replaced those...
I followed the advice in the stickies on the breather covers to replace the gasket (on both sides of the engine) and ensured the holes were clear on the breather hoses - search the W210 stickies.
The breather holes are small and they were both completely blocked. I also replaced the two hoses - they broke.
Problem went away.
Now car accelerates and idles as expected. I never realised that the breather holes were important.
