I am planning to buy an E240 (W210) Mercedes , and I was told there are two models, 2.4 litre and 2.6 litre.
What's the difference between these model besides the displacement?

98 W210 Advantgarde
The 2.6l version replaced the 2.4l in late 99 (2000 models) as part of the W210 facelift i.e. you will not have a choice if you're considering a car of a particular vintage. In fact, the 2.4l changed from an inline 6 to a V6, sometime between 98 and 99 I understand.
2.4l: 2398cc, power: 170ps @5900rpm / torque: 22.4kgm @3700rpm
2.6l: 2597cc, power: 170ps @5500rpm / torque: 24.5kgm @4500rpm
Actually not a significant difference in power or torque and with a little mod (and money) the older version could be brought to close to performance of the 3.2l......
However, in most Asian countries where the licencing fee threshold is 2.5l (i.e. the fee leaps after 2.5l) and where fuel is at ridiculous prices, the difference in annual costs could be significant.
