Possible misfire issue?

I’ve recently had what my uncle/mechanic believes to be two misfires on my w210 e430 and wanted to know if anyone had a similar issue and a possible fix. the most noticeable thing i did for the first occurrence was push the car on the highway to and from the place i was at about 75-80mph and up which i do on the highway typically, after the drives the car was fine to me, i parked up at a river and heard a noise which sounded like a boat horn (it sounds stupid but there was one nearby and the sound blended into it but there was a noticeable sound coming from the car) i turned off the engine and kept the electronics running once starting up the car the engine sputtered but came on and sounded louder than usual i drove it for about two streets then it stopped accelerating slowly and it lost engine power my check engine then came up and i ended up pushing it and left it the next day it was towed my mechanic said it drove perfectly fine there was nothing on the sensor and just had a misfire probably and i didn’t have problems with it after that. 21 days pass and i did the same thing essentially and drove on the highway about 80mph and up on the way home i missed a turn to put me onto the right highway and kept driving until i could get off and go back, once i did that though the car began sputtering again and i pulled over then lost engine power and all my lights came on, i was pretty far out and it was a hot day and my air controls are on ec at the moment so i believed the car to have overheated and ended up letting it sit for about 20 minutes. I called my uncle before leaving just to explain what happened and see if there was anything else i could do he, he asked what the temperature was and i told him it was 85 he told me that was an average temperature and it must be something else but to just drive if it turns on and asked if wanted a tow but i chose to drive it. I turned the car around still sputtering and sat on the other side for another 10 minutes after that i turned it on and was good for about 9 miles then the same thing happened i sat it and waited then drove home and it’s been driving alright since then. I spoke with someone online and they said it may be something with the valve cover gaskets because their clk430 had a misfire from an oil leak coming from them and they’ve been fine since then. I do apologize for some of the more mechanicalterms being vague or misused this is my first car and project i’m still learning as i go with it

I wonder if someone could come up with some kind of a tool that one could plug into the car's electronics that would literally indicate what the problem could be?
Who knows, the tool might even cost as little as $25 or so!

You need to work on your communication skill. You know, such as sentence and paragraphs. With that been said, I didn't read your post because of it.

Anyway, if it's indeed misfire, even the cheap scanner will show. Modern cars are more like computers on wheel. It have so many sensors that if it's electrical, it will show what's wrong with your electrical 98% of the time. Remaining 2% are too far and too few in between.

So as bbirdwell said, scan the car. Clear all codes first, then run the car and scan it again. That should give you good idea where to start.
