W210 Engine Swap

Herkese merhaba, bir konuda fikrinizi almak istiyorum. Bir W210 E200 CDI FL'ye sahibim (250.000 km, mükemmel durumda) ve yakın zamanda Hollanda'ya taşındım. Arabayı Hollanda plakalı olarak kaydettirmek istiyorum ama dizel olduğu için yol vergisi çok yüksek.

Bu nedenle, ucuz bir V8 E-Serisi satın almayı ve motorunu ve şanzımanını mevcut arabamla değiştirmeyi düşünüyorum. Amcam bir tamirci, bu yüzden tüm işleri birlikte halledeceğiz. Arabayı gerçekten satmak istemiyorum çünkü bu babamdan bir hatıra.

Bunun makul bir fikir olduğunu düşünüyor musunuz?

Hello everyone, I would like to ask your opinion on something. I have a W210 E200 CDI FL (250,000 km, perfect condition) and I recently moved to the Netherlands. I want to register the car with Dutch plates but since it is a diesel the road tax is very high. So I am thinking of buying a cheap V8 E-Class and swapping the engine and transmission with my current car. My uncle is a mechanic so we will do all the work together. I really don't want to sell the car because it is a keepsake from my father. Do you think this is a reasonable idea?

I believe, and only believe because I'm not expert on this, you need to get the whole setup including engine computer and such. Also, rear gearing may be (probably is due to diesel low shift point) different. So in order to get it to convert it to gas, it's possible but you probably need to work on the whole car. But hey, it's your car.

Any type of swap, been that a engine or transmission, unless you are replacing with exact same engine that your car came with, you not going to get far. It's not analog plug and play any more. But you mentioned buy a cheap E-class V-8 (or been a V-6) and get the engine from that car, wouldn't it make more sense to work on that cheaply acquired V-8 (or V-6) and fix that instead of the diesel?

Lastly, I do own and work on 86 Monte Carlo SS ( I can probably work on this car blindfolded), work as GSE mechanic, have two motorcycle which I do all the work (both of them had engine work done and awaiting resurrection), been working on car and motorcycle since my early teen and I'm still learning about my 2000 E320.

Pay the road tax and move on. You and your uncle will be forever chasing gremlins. Or get your uncle to make the cheap V8 roadworthy.
