I has been done but unsafe and requires a special bolt to be safer. Our cars use 12mm bolts whereas the W211 uses 14mm bolts with a different lug seat. Smaller bolt in a bigger hole and improper seat. You can however, find replicas that are made specifically for our cars.

Hi Whitey,

Actually I am pretty interested in getting a W211 wheelset as well for my W210. I know all about the lug bolt issue, however, wasn't there someone who posted here that you could actually get a 112 mm lugbolt with a larger "head" that could be used precisely to seat a W211 wheelset in a W210 car. I cannot seem to find the particular discussion.

If I could only get those bolts then I will probably buy myself one of these things in ebay.

thanks...

Hey paxfo, the guy is nguyensteve, he has W211 wheels on his car and I think he did he could get the bolts to fit. I tried to do a search using his name but failed - I'm guessing the thread was lost during this site's crash in the middle of the year. Another member here in HK also put some W211 E55 wheels on his W209 CLK (same bolts and configuration as our cars), the bolts were modified (I can find out how if you want) but then his is a CLK200K and we rarely do high speeds around here. If you have a powerful car and do frequent highways, I personally would not risk it no matter what kind of bolts you get, but that's jmho.

Glad to be of assistance sbarsap

Paxfo, here's some more discussion on the bolt issue (on one, I've shown the differences in the ball seat).....scorchie knows what he's talking about too
