Any 6speed conversion ever done?

My E55's tranny died last week and some of my friends are saying, why don't we make your car the first 6 speed manual E55. The idea sounds perfect, but can it be done? I can get an aftermarket 6speed tranny for $1200, $700 for a conversion adapter plate, shorter drive shaft, pedal and ect. I wonder how the computer would react? This just an idea but can it be done?

Thay have the w210 in Europe w/ standard transmission. So any parts you would need you could refer to OEM?

How many miles BTW?

I have 70k, and WOW I didn't know they have OEM parts. Can you buy them in the US? Do you know if it is a six speed or five? I wonder if the pedal brackets are already in the car? This is something to really think about.
Thank you for the info

I'd send a message to Steve... MBenzNL ... He's the guy for euro connections. I've seen pix of w210's with a manual shifter and clutch pedal

540 6spd
I know that Renntech used to offer a manual conversion for V8's. I don't think any old manual tranny will be able to handle all the torque of the 55.
