Has anyone used K&N perfromance airfilters on MB E320 2000 model? Do u recommend doing so? If not do u do u recommend and after market airfilter? If not why? Thanks

In my .02$,,,the consensus is that K&N is a good add-on,Ive seen only positive reports here,except when members over-oil the thing.Its cheap enough that even when its time to change it,,,instead of oiling,buy a new one.

Bigger holes, less dense....lets in more crap...it makes sense but I'm sure a reputable firm that K&N must have done enuf R&D to ensure these are serviceable......can't remember where that thread is but who gives a dang anyways?

That happens after people clean them incorrectly. If you use gas or some other solvent, or get in a hurry and try to dry it with compressed air, it destroys the filtering ability and it will pass dirt, I've seen it happen. Just be sure to use K&N cleaner, let it air dry COMPLETELY, then re-oil. No problem. If you're in a hurry, just do what I do, and have a spare filter(s) to pop in while the other is getting cleaned/dried/oiled.

Had mine cleaned twice in the last 15K miles or so over the last 2.5 yrs already (my city is so fxcking poluted that it needs it), don't know WTF the mechanic did but its been working fine all this time
