Labor rate poll - Indy vs. Stealer

Just wondering what people around the country are paying for a labor rate with their independent mechanics and their dealers. My independent in Boston is an MB specialist and charges me $80 per hour. The dealer wants $110 per hour and he's never done anything for me to prove any worth. Just wondering what other people in different parts of the country see.

Dealer Hourly pricing

The local dealer reports that he uses a tiered system which starts at $80.00/hr for simple things like changing tires and light bulbs up to $120.00/hr for the most complex work.

This is an area where MB looks to make more $$ in the future; they announced the elimination of free maintenance on all 2005 autos. Imagine that, no free maintenance on a $80,000 car! MB is in for a rude awakening...
