2000 e430 4matic goes into bas esp mode on startup randomly and throttle problem
Hello sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this I’m very new here.
I have a 2000 e430 4 matic that has 219k miles that goes into bas esp with no throttle response that goes away after restart. Also in traffic sometimes it will also trigger esp on down hill decel while on brake or not (haven’t done switch yet will soon). The codes I currently have for the car that are pending but show up are p1542 and p1580 they seem to show up whenever bas esp comes on.
things I replaced so far
tps that’s in engine bay
maf
plugs
ccv tubing (it literally crumbled apart it was bad lol)
thays everything that I replaced while owning car
and I have a used eBay throttle body to swap out and new gaskets etc for that whole ordeal ( perks of living 30 mins from fcp euro lol)
also another issue I noticed is if I go beyond say half throttle it fully cuts power u till I get below 50% again and while under that threshold it pulls really hard then when it gets to 3-4500 rpm it seems to kinda back off on the throttle u can notice the power loss its not like it’s bogging its as if I lifted abit and after I replaced the tps sensor i noticed that i had to adjust the physical cable till there’s a few mm of travel from the tps off throttle stop to get it to idle without surging with the trade off of smooth coming to a stop downshifting but if I put it back out a bit more trans feels like bitter but I risk stalling when coming to a stop.
also doing the key on full throttle yatayata reset for trans and throttle will do a instant esp light apon startup but a restart makes the light go away and drives
sorry for the absolute yap I tried to explain with as much detail as possible I’m very mechanically inclined so also feel free to over yap other than these issues car runs great I drive 100 miles a day gets 20+ mpg on the hwy and shifts amazing the car was also owned by a very ocd person the carfax shows the car was on the dot with maintenance from 1999 to 2026 so I would expect the car to just be giving some angry old part problems that I’m here to fix lol
