Problems with the clock spring
My horn button does not work on my ’96 E300D. I pulled the horns to check them; they are good. The fuse is good, as are all the other ones. I’m guessing its the clock spring. Checked the two horn wires and they get no continuity. Another clue indicating this is that at one point for a few minutes the horns started sounding if I turned the steering wheel. I pulled the steering wheel and airbag and I’ve gotten to the clock spring. Problem is, it doesn’t look like the rear connector wires that go into the clock spring can come off so I can’t remove or replace the clock spring. Am I missing something or do I have to remove the whole steering column to get it off?
Thanks in advance.
