cell phone info needed
Can anyone guide me on the factory mercedes cell phone?
I have an 02 e320. It does not have the phone in it.
I am a Verizon Wireless Dealer.
I have a bluetooth kit in it now.
The mute function works for the radio, but I cannot
seem to be able to have the sound output to through
the car speakers. I have the Mercedes pinout for my car, but it looks like
I am locked out of access to speakers IF I use the mute function in the radio.
A) Is the factory cell phone decent?
B) Where is the best place to buy one besides local dealer?
The bluetooth kit works okay, but I wish I could use the number pad on the stereo, and have caller id on stereo, etc.
Suggestions?? Thanks in advance for any help.

Since you are using CDMA, you might want to look at this site to get non-MB phones to work with the MB display:

Same for an '01 E320?
Is it really all that difficult to integrate a phone into the factory components? I tried to make sense of all the information on the aforementioned links, but most of it made little sense to me as I am new to the MB world.
Should I even consider taking the car to the dealer to get this done? Any idea what this might cost?
I already have a motorola V60 phone with Verizon wireless service.
As far as I can tell, the car has never had an integrated phone.
It has the Tele Aid option and the PO installed a Sony 10 disc changer in trunk (it has to come out because they mounted the controller to the left of the steering wheel and you can't even see it while driving!). It will be replaced soon with a factory changer that will not require an additional controller.

I found an almost new Mercedes V 60 for Verizon on ebay,,paid 250$ for what the dealer wanted 600$ for.Had the dealer install all the cradles,etc and it works great.The parts and install of the the system,minus phone was about 1000$.
