Philips Vision Plus Bulbs

I'm wanting to replace my stock bulbs on my 97 with these brighter Philips Vision Plus bulbs I have been reading about on this forum, but I have only been able to find overseas suppliers.

Can I purchase them from anyone in the United States, store or website?

And from what I have read ... I will need the H7 for my low or high beams, and H1 for my fog lights. They are simple swap outs, I do not need to soldered or rewire anything, right?

Thanks,
MbMiller

FYI, my order to UK's PowerBulb had a turnaround time of less than 7 days, to my delight, and it was on my pourch when I got home from work one day. Natch, I was in the garage immediately to play instead of studying.

I have both Philips Vision and Silver Stars. To me the Silver Strars look brighter and whiter. The cost is about the same for either brand.

philips are ok..try www.powerbulbs.com. their services are top notch..plug and play only, no worries

however, my advice would be to save up for xenons, because those are the only lights that you will be able to see the difference ( from experience, i've tried all kinds of bulbs, including the philips, and non of them could compare to the xenons i have now.. )

Ive used the PIAA H1's and the Philips Crystals in H1 and Hi beams and my experience is Philips last longer, and they give a Xenon white look.Try Suvlights.com or hidexpress.com or even autobarn.

Thanks for the input guys. Another dumb question though.

I see the list for the H7 bulbs for the main headlights (low or high beam) and the H1 for the fog lights ... I assume the H7's only replaces low/or high beam in the 'big circles' of the headlights, what are the 'smaller circles' of the headlight unit and size bulb? Excuse my ignorance.

And BTW Stemags ... your E320 looks sweet. I have the brilliant silver E320 also, and that is what I would eventually want mine to look similar too (but of course time, money, and the girlfriend holds me back ... for now).

Thanks MB,,its really quartz silver, which is a little darker than brilliant, side by side. The H7 lows are for non xenon I believe. The smaller lenses are where the Hi beams are,and I changed mine but forgot the size, you'll get someone to tell you.Might be H7 also. Then there is a little bulb in the hi beam housing too,H5W I think.Good Luck.

Thanks for all the help guys. I called Advanced Auto Parts, and supposely they have the Silvers Stars H7 for $36.88. So I am going to swing by after work and buy a pair.

Any tips for swapping out the bulbs that I should know? Is there a sequence of events, i.e. twist and pull, unscrew and drop, or anything like that?

Just wanted to let you guys know that ebennz hooked me up with Osram Silverstars +50% bulbs. He is a distributor out of West Virginia, so I got the bulbs in 3 days from him, instead of having to buy them from overseas.
I installed them yesterday, and they look great ... much better than the stock bulbs. But now I want even brighter, so eventually the Xenon upgrade projectors will be a project.

Once you see a Benz w/ xenon projectors, especially w/ retrofitted ones from Audi (RS6), or Acura TL, it's VERY hard to go back to halogen or even OEM Mercedes Xenon

Putting a pair of xenon projector (found on the new Mercedes like W211 or W220) next to the Audi or Acura one, and it's quite obvious that Mercedes tries to cut cost at all level.
