Which car is better for performance BMW 528i OR Mercedes-Benz E-320?

Which car is better for performance BMW 528i OR Mercedes-Benz E-320?
In my houselhold we have a 2000 BMW 528i and a 1999 Mercedes-Benz E-320. I was wondering which car was better performance wise, ride, comfort etc, etc. I just want to hear other peoples opinion on this issue.

I used to have a 98 E528i, w/ sport package (17" wheels).
The E39 Bimmer beats the W210 Benz by all hand: look, ride, handling, performance. The only part where the Benz beats it is on luxury, cruise, and reliability (I had to visit BMW dealer almost on monthly basic, cup holder broke about 7 times, and twice to replace catalyc converter !!!), but then again, a lot of people have problem w/ their W210 too.
Had it not for the reliability issue, I would never traded in the lovely E39. I've spent quite a chunk of money on my W210, and it's only close to the E39 in term of ride and handling.
Gotta love that inline-6 from Bimmer.

i've had a e39 528i but sold it, didn;t have it for to long, i'd rather get a 540i...
handling would be the e39 but overall the w210 is a better car, less of maintance ad so forth....looks wise it looks nice but the cup holder is a joke, is most bimmers it breaks all the time.....the 320 i believe has a little more power but i'd take the 320 unless you add a 540i to the mix then its a different story.....

The BMW 528i is realible compraed to the E-320 !
I find the BMW the most reliable in our household, it goes in for a major service every 6 months. The Mercedes-Benz E-320 has had a lot electrical problems, and their still going on. Sometimes odd things go out like the radio, heated seats, and the list goes on. We just had the thermostat replaced. I frequently drive the BMW 528i on a daily basis, but I traded cars with my family for a week. Even though the E-320 is powerful, i found the car much less powerful then my 528i, and it doesn't handle as well. Also i find the BMw more luxurious. I love the mercedes-benz but am afraid of driving it because the way I drive 200km/daily the car will be in the garage all the time, because the car doesn't stop having problems. The BMW 528i is much stronger, and more reliable. Never let me down once versus the Mercedes-Benz.

Even though the mercedes-benz e-320 is more poweful than the bmw 528i feels more powerful. I understand the e-320 is 39hp more, but the 528i feels more powerful, sportier, drives and handles better. I raced a e-320 this past summer, and ended up beating it this past summer. There's something about BMW that you just gotta love. No offence to all the E-320 owners out there, im a E-320 owner as well, but i gotta admit the BMW 5 Series is a better built automobile.
