2001 E Class COMAND INSTALL

I also posted this in the AV fourm

I'm new to this fourm.....So thanks in advanced for your help.

I'm pretty technical so I don't think the install will be a problem but I'm looking for some advice:

First I own a 2001 E Class, and I bought a US Ver COMAND (it came out of a 2001 CLK). I need installation instructions, and or a place to buy the connectors, wood trim ect.....

Has anyone done a clean job documenting the install process? Does anyone live near San Francisco who might want to help (yea, I'll pay for the help..)

My other thought is to have Steve install COMAND for me, but he will only install the units he sells.

Any thoughts....

Steve installed his Navi for me!
Maybe you can buy his kit to instll by yourself, and sell your COMMAND.
Maybe, I can sell you my woodtrim, if you are interested.

Technical or not you still need Steve to make it work. Otherwise you will end up spending far too much time and far too much money.

It has most of the part numbers. For the new wood console you will need to give your dealer part department exact layout of buttons. The installation isn't difficult but the tough part is getting the old plastic mounting frame out and new one into the center console. Good luck.

Agreed. I did the installation of a Euro-spec COMAND unit a couple years ago for my 2001 E430. I ended up cutting the old plastic frame in half to get it out. Putting the new one in was not too difficult.

There are numerous threads available listing all the parts needed. It took several weeks to gather all the components. The actual installation required just about four hours.

Good luck!
