damn steve, how did i miss this thread, lol. im late in my reply but i would have picked the ones that you got anyways.

how miserable are these ny roads. you remember i had the chrome amgs on the clk right? well right before i was gonna take them off for the winter, i cracked 1 rim on forest hill road and blew out 2 tires in a 3 day stretch - 1 on forest ave and 1 on manhattan ave in greenpoint. i gotta tell you though, i forgot how great the car is with the stocks back on, it feels like im floating on air now, lol.

we gotta link up soon, hopefully the weather will get warm again. post some pics once you get them on.

Thanks, David!

I am still looking for the AMG double spoke.
If I get 17", I will just change the rotors. :p
If I get 18"... then, I will try to save more money for the BBK.

I'm referring to the verification with the spacer...if you've confirmed it fits without prob offset-wise, then Ben can fit big brakes on those 17" wheels.

Gotcha,,well good luck finding them Ben,,there seemed to be the strait spoke to the rim kind,#1 ,or the slight curve at the rim kind like mine#2.I have a BBK problem due to snow tires on OEM's>(im sure Dave is salivating waiting to tell me ,buy more spacers )
Both kind are really sharp looking wheels,Im kind of biased with the recent acquisition ,but I wouldnt kick #1 outta bed.PS,,we're getting more snow here,

There are three (3) styles of AMG double spokes, all called "Style IV". The only two that would fit our cars (without bolt modification) are the ones for the W203 C32 and W209 CLK55, and now also C55 (pic 2).

The first pic is one of a W211 E55 wheel, the best looking IMO as the spokes make the wheels look larger but they will require bolt modification since the W211 uses 14mm bolts and we use 12mm bolts. Not recommended unless u know whatcha doing.

The W203 is even more curved at the ends and the gap between the spokes do not continue on to the bolt holes like Pic 2, the W209.

Really not that hard when you know where to look: W203, W209, W211:

Thanks, Steve and David,

I met this guy, Roy, in person about two weeks ago!
I guess I saw the wheels you have now.

They are 209, front: 17x7.5, ET37, rear 17x8.5, ET34, right?

Unforturely, I don't have $1300 to buy them.

I am thinking about, if 17" will fit the BBK, should I get all 17"x8.5" around, because the offset is 34mm? Then, avoid the spacer.

What is your opinion?
Should I get 203, or 209?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi, David and Steve,

Someone is selling his wheels from C32.
He told me that he could only find the part number A170401, from Ronal.
And he couldn't tell if it is 209, or 203.
Should I get them?

thanks,
Ben

Ben
Ben, that is correct. Look at the ends of the spokes, they get progressively straighter, in that order. I would rule out the W211 (last one) to save you headaches in future. Between the two remaining ones, I would go for the same ones as Steve, the CLK55 (W209) i.e. the middle one.....As previously mentioned, the gap on the C32 (W203) end at where the spokes end near the hub, whereas on the other two, the gap joins a groove that goes joins the bolt holes (making the gap appear to continue to the center of the wheel). This design, together with straighter spokes make the 209 (and 211) wheela look bigger than the W203 C32 wheels, even though they may be the same size. In summary my choice would be W209 CLK wheels for the visual effect and cleaner styling.

Ben the offsets you quoted are indeed the ones of the W203 C32 wheels, reconfirming that the wheels the guy is selling are the original 203's i.e. they are the standard W203 C32 wheel offsets. Steve's wheels are different, which are the W209 CLK55 wheels, but now also standard on the C55 (BTW, Steve, how do u know yours were from a C55 - they could have come from a CLK or C55? Are u confusing them with the ones Pete was selling? ). The CLK (W209)/C55 wheels have different offsets to the C32 wheels as per Steve's quote.

LOL, I find I've repeated myself, all in the interest of clarity, but I hope that's clearer now.

As for the BBk's, the C32 AMG's (with the same brakes u want) had those wheels on 17", so diameter-wise, I don't think they will be a problem. The question is whether the offset with spacers will allow sufficient clearance of the calipers.............over to you steve

Hi, David,

Thanks for your help!

These wheels look great!
But, I wouldn't go with the heavy weight.

Best,
Ben
