Found this mod combo worked, and CHEAP
Hey guys, I just got my baby back up and on the road again today. I had my E320 parked while I shipped off the ECU to Oliver at SpeedtuningUSA.com. While it was being done, I bought a cheap cold air intake off Ebay to try it out. (hell, for 40.00 you can't lose much) So I tossed my ECU in and changed the air filter box out for the intake. I get back in, turn the key, and ...... Nada, nothing. Checked everything, and again, nada. So I check under the hood while my friend turned the key, I heard it click, loose electrical plug, then it fires up. The engine sound was deeper, but not louder. (I had this problem on my last air-intake system on a Dodge Stratus) I take it for a testdrive and turned off the traction control, and got it 0-100 on a back-country road very quickly, except takeoff. When I got home, I realized that the W mode was selected, so I flipped it down to S, and WOW, we're talking a sedan that'll throw you back in your seat (Unless you own an E55) But felt very much like a stock E430. Anyway, total cost of project was under $400 and it turned out great. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking for cheap upgrades

dyno slips are important, everyone who throws on a chip needs to dyno before and after...i've heard some people trying chips from other companies and on the dyno sheet it shows no chance....

A buddy of mine was using the Speedtuning software, he showed me the A/F graph and it looked real lean across the board...I'd be cautious to who tune's your ME unit.

Been there, done that! The Upsolute software provided no gains on the dyno when I tested it. Furthermore, Lanny the company's So Cal rep is a nice guy, but doesn't return calls or emails.
Rather then purchasing an off the shelve software, look into Split Second's products were they can actually tune it on the dyno in your presence...seeing is sometimes believing. The Powerchip is also a good product that provides good results.

The #'s your GTech is giving you are way off. 13.9 in the 1/4???????.The only way to get true #'s are the track or Dyno.
The GTech is useful in this way: Whatever #'s your getting now, write down and compare with the #'s you get when you modify. It will give you a roundabout estimate but that's all.
BTW: Car looks really good.

Sorry for the delay, been working a lot lately. The chip was from speedtuning.com, and I have no complaints whatsoever. I don't need a dyno to know that it now puts me into the seat harder than it did before. The intake I bought was a 25.00 cheapie off of Ebay. Not K&N, not AMG, and not their prices either.
Mark
PS
Yes, I know that AMG doesn't make air intakes, and that they're the higher end Benz
