WOW, What a Ride Last Night

It was around 6PM and I had a 2hr drive to pick up some items in DE. I took a back road that seldom gets patrolled, with good curves and plenty of long straightaways. Was gunning it down at 80 (darn, those Eagle GS-D's are loud!!!) and then got harrased by this Dodge Stratus. Moved to right, allow him to pass - temporary plates, probably all excited about his car - who can blame him. He was doing around 85 or so. We come to slow traffic, he slows, I gun it - wow, the E430 is some monster. Took him and two other left lane bandit punks - the other one in a Mazda 626. Several miles down he's back on my tail, I allow him to pass then I do what I promised to never do again - I sat back 1 car lenght and pressed him knowing he'd not give up - 95, 100, 110, 115 here comes a smooth tight left-hander, 110, he starts to fishtail, but he holds it. the E SITS FIRM. He drops to about 75 so not to kill himself, I gun it to the right, swoosh, I pass, I'm ahead of him now, teasing at 82, he tries to harrass me again, this time I say BYE and he's dust, saw him again. So here comes a Triburon messing with my head again - I let him go, not interested. The 2hr ride back home was at 65 all the way. Man, I love this car!!!

All of them, as much as I can...
Thumbs up Darkmann, wait 'till you finally decide to chip your car...

...I think you'll have even more fun. What a rush.
I think the Upsolute upgrade+K&N on my E430 is reallyworth it! The car feels like it's in 4 when I'm driving in D. So far, my GTech confirms some pretty good gains. Only after a day's driving. It's been geting better after almost a week of driving 50+ miles a day. I'm doing some more GTech runs tomorrow with a friend who has a stock '02 E430.

the Upsolute upgrade, I'm not farmiliar with. the K&N, I suppose you mean the filtercharger system and not just the filter alone. More details 'cause I'm waiting for more rush...man, I love this car.

Re: K&N

I think the filtercharger system is simply a marketing name they use for the infinite re-useability of the filter itself. It consists of the filter element and the cleaner/re-oiling kit.
I meant the actual drop-in filter swap. For about $48, it's a cheap upgrade. I use it in all my cars and can feel a difference in response, but not power. I barely touch the accelerator pedal and the car jumps. It's a good cure for the infamous Mercedes "lag". Some people say it's not as efficient at filtering out particles but since I don't drive in the desert and most roads here are pretty clean, I think it's not an issue.
I understand some west coast tuners are going to start importing the european counterpart, which have even "better" claimed data. (Can't remember the name...)
