1997 E320 Window Switches

The last window switch went bad (with the window down) and I was forced to buy the complete switch assembly.

Is there a way to repair these switches now that I have the complete asembly out.

I tried to flush with contact cleaner with no success

I have a spare switch module if you didn't buy it already.

yesssssssss, just replaced ours a couple months ago, the funny thing was my mom was sitting in the back while i was driving on the highway and she was like wanted a breath of fresh air because someone farted in the car, and then when she opened the window then something cracked and then the window just slide down entirely, and this was on the highway, bad hair day for mommy LOL

BTW, if the arm of the motor really cracked like mine, you might as well just try to dis-assemble the rear door panels yourself because i watched our technician take everything out and everything was just snap on (and maybe a few bolts, i forgot) but it was like very easy. hope this helps!

Regards,

Regards,
The motor can be reused. It is the cable that snaps on the cheap pully assembly they call a regulator. You have to remove the inner door panel and then drill out the rivets that hold the regulator on. Put your original motor on the new regulator. Then just swap the new one in and either rivet or bolt it back on. Plug in the motor and test for operation. Reinstall the inner door panel.

The inside contacts in the switch break off so contact cleaner doesn't help. The whole assembly has to be swapped out. 96 and 97 have a different assembly than the 98 - 2002 too.

....my rails on one window became slightly bent and had to be replaced - probably from the jerks who replaced my tweeters ....found the motor had to be replaced as the strain I've put on it when forcing the window up the crooked rails overtime had ruined it (I thought the slots on the A and B-pillars just needed some lubrication and it did work for a while before the window became stuck again) .......Moral of story - check everything thoroughly and replace any damages before its too late...
