Someone on Ebay is selling a DVD copy of a MBZ W210 repair manual for $100. Is this the one from the same DVD that sells for $95 at the dealer?

That is a copy of a page from the Workshop Information System. It is probable that it is a bootleg copy someone made - either from a dealer or from the STARTEKInfo site. It is not from the Info CD that the dealer/MBUSA sells for $95. That CD can be downloaded from www.edsoto.com.

 

i bought a similar one and its crap. It doesnt even have instructions how to change oil. It has about 900 articles on e320 and none of them have any details. To me it was a total waste of money.

Also I just got this part number for repair CD from the dealer - P-2700-210-05. Is this the Workshop Information System (WIS)? Price is $150.

Buy it and burn me a copy.

 

P/N P-2700-210-05 is not WIS. It is a simplifed version. Also, for the W210 it is a DVD, not a CD. I don't know if it will be a problem when using this DVD, but the similar W202 CD only runs using Acrobat 6 or earlier. If you use Acrobat 7 you must disable the "Display PDF in Browser" option. The result is that links from job to job do not work. It can be used, but is much less effective. I don't know of another site that takes the place of www.edsoto.com. He took it down a few months ago.

There is no part number for the WIS. WIS is most easily accessed by logging on to www.startekinfo.com. This is a monster site run by M-B. It is a subscription service. For 24 hours I believe it is $18. There are weekly and monthly subscriptions at higher prices. There are also some CDs being sold that are pirated or copied from dealer discs. The DVD takes the most needed info from WIS and puts it in a much more useable format. The WIS is huge and it takes alot of time and effort for the uninitiated to learn their way around.

I purchased a two-DVD set off of eBay for $19.95 plus shipping. The actual DVD's look great but install like crap. Could not get them to install and run properly. Plus, you wouldn't believe all the steps I had to take to install; seller didn't list it in his auction so I got a big surprise when the DVD's arrived with two pages of 'installation instructions'.

Ultimately I uninstalled them and returned them; I now keep getting 'script errors' and 'dubbing errors' and don't know how to resolve that issue.

I don't want to bad-mouth an eBay seller but if anyone goes to eBay, if you ask me before you buy, I will let you know if the auction is for the same seller and you can decide what's best for you.

I have even asked the seller three times now if the DVD's were original or copies and so far he has refused to answer, so beware!

I believe some peeps in here have the "edsoto" burned on cd OR dvd.
I think I read that in thread not too long ago, like early to mid January.
I'm sure they can make You a copy....
