alarm noise

This happened to my car. I have Nav as well in a 04 E500. The Mercedes Techs duplicated the problem by driving my car for 1 day. It wasn't the Nav unit but the PSE Pump that was making the noise. The PSE pump has to do with the self leveling of the car. The sound was coming from the truck right where the Nav and fuse box is just as described by everyone else.

Airmatic

You mean this sound is coming from the airmatic suspension? I don't have the airmatic suspension but I have this noise in my 2005 diesel E320.

ALMOSt right...the BEEP comes from the vacuumpump that sits on the leftside in the trunk - against the taillight - behind the trunkpanel - that controls the dynamic or ortopedic seats!!!
It has nothing to do with navigation, fusebox or airmatic...

Maybe it's an warning that it can't handle the extra weight from the heavy meal you just had?

Thanks for the info Steve.

I think it is an alarm beep that occurs when the pump keeps pumping too long...don't know...I only heard it once

Service Bulletin

I heard that a service bulletin has been issued for E Class vehicles with the drive dynamic seats to replace a valve located in the trunk which periodically lets off air that causes this sound we have been hearing. Check with your service departments.

I had the service done

I had the service done recommended by the bulletin covering cars with drive dynamic seats. The installation took only a half hour. Drove the car home and a few hours later, the noise was still there. Oh well, it is a good conversation starter...

It turns out to be a vent line for PSE pump (for drive dynamic seats). It'll make noise when any air is pass through. Dealer installed updated vent line. Part# below.

I've heard it in my '05 E500 too, and it's definately not a whistle or air escaping or anythng like that. Like Kelsims said above, it is a regulated electronic tone. When it occurs the time between beeps is always consistant, as is the length of the beep itself. Only thing that is variable is how long the beeping goes on.

Did you have to leave the car at the shop over night? how much did it cost? I am having the same problem. I turned incoming air control *** at both front seats down to zero and the humming sound went away, but I need to get it fix eventually.
thanks.
