E320 W211 with E55 Wheels

Hi there,

I am thinking of upgrading my W211 E320 to the 18" staggered E55 wheels.

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of other e320's with the E55 wheels?

A few more questions

1. Will there be lots of wheel gap?
2. Will the ride quality be compromised much?

Let me know, thanks!

Please correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure somebody will), but the E55 seems to have the same wheel openings as other W211s. If that is so, you can get a pretty good answer to your first question from any picture of an E55.

I don't have an answer to your second question; I suppose it depends upon your personal interpretation of "much."

Oh yes, the ride quality will be slightly comprimsed but not by much. I have 18" OEM AMG rims on the E55 and the ride is almost similar to that of the E350 with the Appearance package. I will be upgrading to the SL65 19" AMG rims shortly so I am expecting a fairly large change in ride quality.

But it wont be much different than your current stock setup.

DWP is correct. Look at any E55 and that is what it will look like. When I had my E500 I purchased the 18" AMG wheels and was very happy with the result. Now the E500 came with 17"s so going to 18" wasn't such a huge jump. Unless your E320 has sport package I believe it has 16"s right? The difference may be more noticeable.

Yes, I have the sport package. Where did you guys find your E55 wheels and roughly how much did it cost you?

E500 Sport Wagon and Sl500
I recently put E55 wheels on my 2004 E500 wagon......using 245/40/18's front and 275/35/18's rear give you the same diameter tire as the stock.....therefore the same wheel gap.

If you are trying to maintain the same or better ride quality and want the quietest tires on the road , try the Yoko AVS dB S2's, I have really been impressed....they are as advertised, and reasonably priced. Try Discount Tire at tires.com, and ask for Dave or Jim......they were very helpful.

What do you guys figure the E55 wheels will do to the performance of my E320... will the larger wheels sap the engine much?

Sap the engine? Unlikely. Performance-wise, I think you might notice improved handling compared to the stock 17"s. Make sure you make a good choice for tires to go with 'em.

Does anyone have pictures of the E500 or E320 with AMG rims (18 or 19") ?

I have been searching the forums like crazy and can't come up with anything!

Check the E55 board. Plenty of 19" rims (AMG and others)

What do you guys think about the ASA ST4 ?

http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/Call...2FMachined+Lip

Only problem is they don't have 18" at the tire rack

2003 amg e55
i am a proud owner of a very fast 2003 amg e55 (11.50 @ 119mph dragtimes.com)..
after curb checking both right side wheels on my car i started looking at wheels... i wanted a wheel that looked like the factoy wheel but with a little lip.. i looked at the wheels on tirerack.com that look a lot like these and was going to buy them.. but they said that the 18" wheels would not fit on the E55 because of the large calipers but the 19" would.. but i didnt what to go that because i would then need to buy 19" tires... so after lots of looking around i finally found these... they fit perfect.. 18x9 rear 18x8 front.. polished lip... and the best part $675/set for the 18" they also come in chrome and other sizes too... 17"-20".. no they are not AMG wheels... they weigh almost the same only one pound more... they are very strong... i have made lots of passes on them at the track with several 1.60's 60' times with no harm done..
