Recommended service dealer in LA/Orange/Riverside county

So, I called 2 dealers today to inquire on changing my computer settings to activate navigation and xenon present 'cause I'm, gettin' them for my 05 E500, not from the dealer. Both acted like, Oh my God how dare you do this without our permission we won't touch it. They were Rusnak Arcadia and Caliber Anaheim. The "service advisor" in Anaheim didn't even know what I was talking about. I'm disappointed at Rusnak because that's where I bought it. ($49950, only options were sunroof and cd changer. Is that a decent price?). I don't wanna get yelled at anymore. So, does anyone have a dealer in LA/Orange/Riverside willing to do this stuff without lecturing me?

...Also, why is everyone so afraid to talk price in these forums? It's so much work trying to find out if you overpaid for something.

you paid $49950 for a brand new 05 E500? That's a great price.

Try house of imports. They did my nav programming, but took them two tries to get it right.

House of Imports

Do you remember who you talked to at House of Imports?

I just bought nav drive with brackets and trunkliner for $1050, shipping included, no tax 'cause it's from another state. I just need to get the DVD itself. What a relief it will be knowing my wife is not out getting lost.

Purchas price: He gave me the price on the phone because he's sold several cars to my friends and friends' friends. I didn't bother negotiating 'cause I procrastinated on my wife's birthday and had to get something in a hurry. My friend who bought an E from same guy said it was good. So, I went straight there no 4-square sales tactics, no pushing extra stuff, etc. Peter Liew at Rusnak. Now in Arcadia (used to be in Pasadena).

Many thanks for the advice!

I wouldn't recommend my SA since he had no clue. When I first asked about it he gave me crap about "maybe you didn't change the setting in the MFD, do you know how?" or "is that a MB nav?"

I actually handed him a copy of the programming instruction to shut him up. Even with instruction it took them twice to get it done. But it was done nevertheless.

I did read somebody else deal with a SA named Bill Chow. I am going to try him next time.

I didn't know you can get a E500 with options for below $50K. Are you sure it's not a E350/320?

I paid about the same price for the nav install kit. Email me if you need help installing it. Pretty straightforward.

Positive, E500

I didn't want the 320 because of horsepower, no 7-speed transmission, no standard leather, air susension, etc. My friend got his E320 end of last year for $46K. He flipped when he heard about the deal the guy offered me and was gonna call him to ask why he wasn't offered the same deal. So, that's when I figured I'd better buy the car.

I'll try your referral. Thanks a bunch!

Um .... yeah ... considering that DEALER INVOICE (not MSRP) on an '05 E500 with CD changer and sunroof package is $55,587 (per edmunds.com), $49,950 would qualify as a "decent price."

Ever consider becoming a professional new-car-purchase negotiator?

Navigation installed and works great

The $1,000 self-install nav kit shipped same day as ordered and arrived less than a week after I ordered (2800 miles away). Included was everything required: brackets, fiber optic connector, coax splitter, new trunk liner, nut & bolt. I guess my '05 really comes wired for plug-and-play nav. It took about 1 hour to install. Some delay was because I lost the instructions emailed to me. It has full functionality on the COMAND screen. Until I get dealer to reprogram, the only thing I'll miss out on is nav display in middle of speedometer.
