thanks for your help
My understanding is that in mid-June they switch over production to the next model year. My 05 E500 was delivered last August 04, and there were already some 05's in the US by that time. My order had been in the system in April 04. I would assume the situation would be similar for you a year later. That leaves somewhere between 3 and 4 months of gap, assuming you need a car immediately. I think it will take some creativity and some cash to bridge that gap. For example, a dealer could theoretically give you a loaner, but that assumes it has an extra loaner, and there will be mileage put on the car plus wear and tear that is not going to come cost-free (there's also the issue of insurance). The dealer could also lease you a car (maybe not new, maybe a lease return), for a set period, but most dealers are not actually lessors -- they just act as an intermediary with a financial company (like MBCC or a bank) that ends up owning the car and leasing it. I supect that this will require too much creativity for either a dealer or financial company. You could always buy a clunker for a couple of months, or see if a rental company can offer a deal on a three month rental, and then compare costs. But I am not optimistic that anyone will go out of their way to do this for you.
also, any thoughts on the e350 or e500 4matic with sport package?
thanks
