European delivery? How about sales tax?

I read that until very recently, CA did not charge sales tax on European delivery cars (or maybe it was European delivery cars that were used for at least 6 months).

Any state like that?

Any Georgia or Arkansas resident buy a car by European delivery? If so, did you have to pay sales tax?

Not that I'm aware of. I pick up my E350 on Memorial Day and apparently have to pay the sales tax when it arrives back in the US.

Sales Tax on a Used Car

Guys: Search the Euro Delivery topic. I recall a number of posts on this issue. The car is used when it arrives, but I believe if it has 7,500 miles on it when registered, no sales tax is due in California. Big benefit if you can pull it off.

Even if a car is used, you still pay sales tax on the car when you register it in California.

While on European delivery, you can extend your "visit" for quite a long time... but not long enough to make it to 91 days old.

If anyone wants mileage increased on his car (either in the US or in Europe) while it is relatively new, that is a simple operation to perform.
