mine is 2004 E500. found this on ebay, supposed to update the firmware and enable mp3 playing. anyone try this before? does the dealer have it?

I got it a few months ago. Didn't work on my 2004 E320. The COMAND display said "Wrong Variant". He said it had worked on other US E320's. I made the mistake of waiting too long to put a negative feedback on ebay. I'll sell you mine for $25.

Hi Ipolo,
I have just sent an e-mail to that seller informing them that the software they are selling is useless on 04 US E-class (European 04).

The upgrade he is selling is used on models like my own that have full DVD compatibility, but were unable to play Mp3's.

All we had to do was go to the local dealership and they would carry out the upgrade free gratious. (we never got the upgrade CD thoug)

This upgrade might be useful for any European members (or any other nationality that has the Avantgarde\Elegance models) whose dealership tries to charge for this ten minute upgrade..

My advice to US members is simple, DO NOT buy this upgrade, it will probably NOT work.
