Glove compartment either warped or something

The door doesn't always close easily. On closer inspection, the left part of the top seam fits well but there is a gap on the right part of the top seam. I think the left latch closes but not the right.

Warped?
Misaligned?
An unheard of problem?
Or a fellow Mercedes owner's thoughtful suggestion: maybe the latch on the door is not aligned (but the door gap on the top right is too large)

Take it to the dealer and get it fixed under warranty. Simple matter.

Same issue here. After looking at 5 other E's in stock, they all seem to fit this way (a larger gap on the pax door side).

True, this is a simple matter. However, I like to understand the problem as much as possible before doing a repair myself or bringing it in. If there's an unsolvable problem because of poor design or a very minor problem, I do not like to be a hypochondriac pestering the dealer.

The same thing happened to my '05 C320. I took it in and it was repaired under warranty. The technician changed a glove box, glove box panel, and more related parts. The same problem persisted within a few days. Now the car is scheduled to go in again. One thing to know about this problem is that the glove compartment door does not close tight enough that the lamp inside the glove box stays on at night (when headlight is on).

My glove box had the same problem. Took it to a dealer and they did some adjusting but to no avail, upon careful inspection the pad that goes in place of the ashtray was in a note pad compartment on the glove box door and a portion hung out to the outboard side which is a zero clearance fit. Moved the pad to somewhere else and it worked fine. If this is where the pad is stored when the car is delivered that might be why all the glove boxes are warped.
