Is Anyone Considering the Integrated Phone???
I was talking to my dealer and he was recommending that I order the K2b or K2c package which includes the in-dash integrated cd changer and motorola V60 phone. He was saying that this package costs about the same as having the dealer install the integrated cd changer because of the labor involved. So if you order it from the factory, you get the integrated phone for just a few dollars more.

Get the K2c... you will love it.. voice control for your audio and phone... ooooh yeah. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Seriously though, your dealer is pretty much right, however those are all dealer installed accessories so he stands to make some money on that.
just FYI.

I bought the K2a package with voice control for my C32. It was a lot of money and could not be justified.
But it IS mega-cool and I'm glad I have it. I just dare not think too much about the cash involved.
I'm not sure I believe the part about almost getting the phone for "just a few dollars more"- it was $1500 over and above the cost of the changer. But maybe the W211 pricing is more reasonable...

The audio technology is very different in the new E class - on current cars, it uses a D2B fibre optic ring
The new E uses something called MOST, which is a competitor to the D2B standard - and a lot of the system is centralised in some sort of central gateway. They are *meant* to be bringing out a bluetooth interface in the car, so if you have a bluetooth phone such as Nokia 6310i, it will just work when you go in the car, no need to plug it in. (You can get bluetooth car kits over here in the UK already, and Nokia will be releasing theirs shortly - we get Nokia phones not Motorola here in Europe)
On current cars , US vehciles are pre-equiped with the wiring/switches for voice-control and phone, so they can be installed by dealer or at the US port. On Euro cars they are not, its factory supplied or a serious job to retrofit.
I imagine the dealers wont be familiar with the new E class, so Id opt for having the phone/voice factory fitted every time. I suspect it will also be a while before the US dealers have the parts to fit phones afterwards aswell (just a hunch!)
