removing side mirror...

Hi...

Does anyone know how to remove the side mirror glass? I'm trying to install a set of convex ones, but I can't get the driver's side glass off.

Thanks.

Regards,
Chris

Pop the cover to make it easier on yourself. Someone posted instructions with pics in the W203 forum. HTH

Hi Chris

Long time no talk. I am going by memory when I replaced the Convex mirror for my passenger side. Here goes ...

Remove the side mirror cover.
1. Push your mirror housing in slightly so that you can look inside.
2. In the area near the side blinkers, you'll see a silver metal clip/tab.
3. Push a flat blade screw driver inside between the metal clip and the
mirror plastic cover.
4. Rotate your flat blade screw driver to depress the metal clip.
5. The plastic mirror cover should pop off.

Remove the mirror from the motor.
1. With the cover off, on top of the mirror assembly, there is a metal
spring wire at the back of the mirror, remove this.
2. Use flat head screw driver to release the plastic tabs that hold the mirror
to the motor assembly.
3. Mirror comes off. You also need to disconnect the cable for the heating
element for the mirror.

Reassembly.
1. Everything in reverse

I hope these instructions help. If you are still struggling with these, PM me. I'll will try to take some pictures for you during the next weekend

Good luck

Hey ...

How are you! How are those bi-xenons working out?

Thanks so much for the instructions! I was able to take off the passenger side one last night without poping the mirror cover, but I can't get the driver's side to come off. I'm gonna give it another go and remove the driver's side later on today.

Bests!

Hi Chris

The BiXenons are great and if Steve (MBenzNL) was not around, I would have been toast trying to get them working on my E.

As for the mirror, even when you had the passenger's side removed, I suggest you pop the plastic housing when you re-install the mirror. The passenger side mirror is alot thinner than the driver side as it does not have the photo-chromatic elements for auto dimming. As such, the passenger side mirror breaks real easy. The driver side is thicker but glass is glass and they break. Better safe than sorry.

Good Luck. If you want me to take pictures of my car for the mirror housing, just let me know.

Hi Jeff (right? )

Yea, I'm gonna try and take my car to the dealer and have my tech check my mirrors. I'd really hate for them to fall off and waste $200 bucks of mirrors.

Don't worry about the pictures...But thanks for the offer and I'll let you know.
