Brake update
Today the car is at the dealer and they insist that this wear is "normal". There is a combination of metallic pads and "soft" rotors that cause this behavior. I checked with other independent MB shops & they concur, that indeed this is normal.
The dealer also told me that the rear pads were worn and needed to be replaced (at 15k miles, rear brakes, and metallic pads?). Cost of this exercise is $300 to replace the rear pads ($119 for the pads and the balance for 2 hours @ $95/hr labor etc).
Part of the reason I am concerned is that I thought that this car came with maintenance included, so why am I being charged for these pads? Never mind that the rear brakes usually wear more slowly than the fronts.
What am I missing here?
Thanks for your input.

I guess I misunderstood about the maintenance coverage is for this car. I have an Audi that everything including the brakes and rotors are covered. The only time that warranty does not apply is abuse or damage.
Once again, thanks

I wonder how much the revised pads help in extending the brake life?
