Sam your in the south western US, why do you want 4matic? you don't have snow there.
I would rather have regular rear-wheel drive personally instead of 4wd, but here in Toronto Canada in the winter, RWD even with snow tires and an ESP is a disaster.

Flagstaff AZ (elevation 7000') is only a 1.5 hour drive from where I live. It's a common misconception that people think AZ is one bid desert... far from it.
This is why my Volvo XC90 is AWD.. I didn't "need" the AWD for the MB, as it's not my "utility" vehicle, but I didn't mind paying an extra $2000 for it.

Only when the new V6 diesel is introduced will you be able to get 4matic with it. The current in line 6 is just too big to fit the 4matic components in there.
But, forget that, I want the new V8 diesel that makes 315 hp and something like 600 lb ft of torque.......
