Amazing Fuel Consumption of E200K

Just had my 1st servicing around 10,000km, and my fuel consumption actually improved significantly! For the usual trip from my parents-in-law's place to mine, the onboard computer improved as follows:

Before: 8.2 litre/100 km = 12.1 km/litre

Now: 7.5 litre/100 km = 13.3 km/litre

This is amazing for a luxury sedan like the E Class carrying my full family load! The M271 engine is definitely very frugal

Or, for those of us who don't need no stinkin' Frenchy metric system, from 28.4 mpg to 31.2 mpg ....

Seems like the US is the last holdout for the old English Kings measurements. I find myself using the metric system for most measurements since it is a lot easier to divide a number of millimeters by 2 than 7 13/16 inches.

I too have found an increase in mileage with my E320. At 10k miles, I recently took a 200 mile trip with the AC on and got 31 mpg.

I can think in litres and kilometers separately fairly well, but I'm still draw a blank when I see litres/km fuel consumption numbers, unless I do the math.

An E200K has a 1.8 litre (not 2.0 litre) four-cylinder engine and can be had with a manual transmission. A four-cylinder, 1.8 litre E-class is hard to imagine in North America, but it would make sense in a lot of urban environments.

Yep. Singapore's really an urban environment all round, and speed limit's pretty much at 90km/hr... an E200K is quite sufficient, although I would love to have the new E350!
