safety cage info wanted on E-class..
I know that the E-class from 2002-older was rated as the safest car in America, so this isn't meant to be a litmus test but I wonder if anyone knows exactly what kind of steel MB uses in their safety cage and re-enforced areas of the cars? In the case of Volvo, the boast that they are using Boron Steel which is 5 times stronger than standard automotive steel
, but I called MBUSA and spoke with a tech (guy was actually German), but he didn't know, he said that it's likely proprietary info... I wonder if anyone of the deep wells of knowledge on this board now? If not, I will pursue the question elsewhere and share it where when I find out.

All I know is that the E Class is the safest car in the world right now. Lowest fatality rate of any car..
Take a look at some accident pics, the passenger area is perfect in all but one I have seen.

oh yeah... the evidence speaks for its self... I imagine a lot of that is superior structural engineering, but surely they are using a higher strength steel.. but what is the question? hmm..
