Finally An E-500 Owner!
I finally stopped the dreaming and bought a new 05 E-500. I currently have a 2000 E-430 with 180,000 miles! Both are sitting in the driveway and I will miss the E-430 when I find it a new home.
I am in the Atlanta area and it is not as competitive as other markets like Miami or southern California. I was prepared to buy out of state. I was able to get invoice less 4k at a local dealer. Could have done better in Miami, but it was going to be tough to do before midnight! The dealer even gave me a better lease than I had already obtained from LeaseCompare (which is a great service)! It was also one of the fastest, most pleasant of the 7 or 8 new cars I have purchased.
The 05 is brilliant silver, appearance package, sunroof package and cd changer. I only have 45 miles worth of history, but so far, I love the car.
Did not get the extended warranty, but was told I can purchase at any time during factory warranty period. Are there still dealers out there willing to sell at a discount? I think I saw the list price for 100k to be $4100!
Although it was not important to have DVD navigation, can this be added and how much? Was told the fiber optic cable is present in the trunk.
I did inquire about Ipod kit but was told it would not work with my system. Oh well. Now I need to see about getting my XM moved from the E-430 to the E-500.

Hey... Congrats on the new ride. Excellent color choice too.
Better double check on the time limit for the extended warranty. I understand it to be that you have one year from date of purchase to get it (from MB).... After that you'll have to get it form a private company.

Yes, you can buy the parts from a dealer and retrofit Navigation. I think it costs about $1,000. Here's the Info..

No Regrets
Chemsales: Congrats. I have the same car and am very pleased after nearly four months and 3,200 miles. Afraid to say it, but I have had NO issues. This is my first MB, so I did not know the level of quality and craftsmanship in this vechicle. Yes it is still during the honeymoon period, but it is a great beginning
