In dash CD only for first run of W211s
More updates from Sat. AM sales meeting:
The W211 will come with a STANDARD in dash single CD / cassette player. Factory installed multiple CD changers (code 819) will be available at a later date. The CD changer will no longer be available as a dealer installed item.
So, if you are set on having your new E with factory installed Navigation system and CD changer you will have to be patient for a couple more months.
No timeline is given for CD / Nav availability.

Not trying to 'shoot the messenger' - but that is silly of MBZ. You can not install the CD changer at the dealer but you can have the Nav installed at the dealer????

At this point the CD changers will be a factory option only (when available) and the nav system will be dealer installed when they go to the COMAND type system in the W211.
The good news is that the CD changer will now be $400 instead of the $800 to $1,000 dealers have been charging.
Other good news (stop the presses!) the W211 will come with a standard in dash CD player.
No, it doesn't make sense that the nav and changers are not going to be available initially (?)

i do wonder why mb would decide to do this... oh well.. I guess it's a marketing tactic of some sort....i would like to smoke the stuff they are smoking....
