If you're planning to replace the changer with the OEM storage compartment shell that comes in cars without a changer - be aware that the compartment is only about 7" W x 1 1/2" H x 2 3/4" D. That's not a whole lot of storage space to gain in return for your changer. The space is only slightly larger than the slide-out compartment next to the glove box.
The compartment in lieu of a changer does have the advantage of being a hidden storage place that nobody is likely to discover, unless they have four legs, a tail and a black nose.
