Name that tune
Before I waste the time of my local ( unhelpful and always put off ) service department I thought I would ask for help from my fellow members here. About 4-6 weeks ago I noticed a noise that I think is on the driver side and probably in the steering wheel. It starts when I move the steering wheel left ( counter clockwise ) and stops when it straightens out. The sound is not loud, intermittant and has a hissing quality to it. Almost like a light grinding. I only ask in anticipation of the dealer stating the infamous " could not replicate customer complaint". Thanks in advance.

I do beleive this is a new one... most of the wonderful noises the car makes most people have experienced. Wish I could help. Does it kindof correspond with the rate of turning, or is it more on/off?

Just on and off. Just a bit of left turn sets it off. Does not get better/ worse, louder/ softer. Just goes away. I will take in Thursday for this and A/C prob.I hope I can have a tech listen. I notice that the service reps don't always communicate well with techs so things get missed.

Here's where I am. 1st good thing is that my dealer was just bought out from Penske by a guy who only owns this dealership. He is there full time and I can detect dramatic improvement already! Anyhow, E55AMG99 thanks for heads up because I did just as you recommended and had a tech in the car. Took a few minutes but he heard it. Guess is pump. Also have A/C issue that tech got a handle on by talking to me. With all the "could not replicate customer complaint" BS we all have heard, it seems to make sense that they have us talk directly to tech. Would make for a happy service experience. I'll give follow up when I get my car back today.
