7G drivers.. Comfort or Standard?
I was wondering if you guys have the same problem in standard mode. I prefered the shifting points in standard mode, but couldn't stand that it wasn't as smooth in Standard mode. Perhaps i should take this to the dealer for them to have a look. My parents aren't really car people so they don't really notice these things. On the other hand, coming from a W124 E320, they are absolutely happy with this new car.
C mode does shift better allthough too early and starts in a higher gear.
S mode is definately the quickest mode.. I got a 13.89 @ 102.5 in the 1/4 by letting it shift by itself but it's very quirky driving it around.
Took some fooling around with the traction control (which I could never really defeat 100%).
5.01 seconds 0-60.
Sometimes it thinks too long as to what gear to use when downshifting and occasionally it just plain picks the wrong gear.
The 1-2 upshift at med/high throttle is annoying.
Manual mode is just too slow to react and using it really slows the car down. It's fun to play with though.
I manufactuer automotive calibration equipment for a living and MB can surely use some lessons on trasnmission shift scheduling and torque converter strategies.
Soon as I figure out how to reprogram the car myself, it's going to get the tranny stuff fixed right.
I just picked up my car on Friday and drove it aroun 400mi this weekend (that include the P/U from adjoining state). The car has been an absolute dream to drive. Especially in comparision to my wife's '02 ML. The shifts are smooth , almost to the point of not being noticeable. The downshifts on the freeway such as for passing are quick and responsive. I can't say that I have any complaints at all about the transmission.
On a side note, doesn't switching to "comfort" just toggle the transmission to start in 2nd gear when accelerating from a stop? My apologies if I am way off here but I haven't made it all the way through the 500p operations manual...
