want 20" on E500

hey, I get the E500, and I want to change my wheel to 20'.
what do you reckon, my friend has 245/35/20 front n rear and he want to sell to me.
I know it recommend 19" max but I seen also of people put 20' they look so cool. but i dont know what about the ride.
I am scared it will f**k up my car cos i drive quite fast n at the corner, (i like the feeling so much)
do you guy recommend to have it on my E500? (i really want 20" on hehe)
what about the comfort? do i have to cut the nut n bolt?. cos i dont want to cut it..it quite dangerous i guess.

just one man's opinion, but stay away from the 20's and stick with the 19's. You can't even really tell the difference by looking at it. But you can feel a whole lot of difference in the ride.

Putting on wheels that are too big, changes alot of the way the car will perform, in terms of transmission, speedometer, braking, etc.

if and when you do get larger wheels, make sure of the following:

1) tire size ( this is to keep the rolling diameter close to the original )

2) make sure that the wheels are hubcentric

3) if they are not hubcentric and will require an adapter and or spacer, make sure its a quality one, otherwise you will get alot of vibration and road noise.

good luck.

20 will be a nice choice but if you are the person who drives quite fast, it is not recomendable though..unless u r the super rich that can change your wheels whenever it' s broken :P

thank for the replied,
I get the same idea as you guy. i better stick with 19" as i drive quite fast.
anyway it is illegal to have 20" in Sydney, my insurance won't accept it.. :0
I don't want to lose my car.. hehe not good.

I find this wheel on the ebay, it is a Carlsson replica, what do you think?

20" wheels are illegal in Sydney? What is the reasoning behind that? I have never heard of such a thing.

I'm also considering 20' wheels (Maya STM) for my car, I know the proper tire sizes are 245/30 front, 275/25 rear. I want to go with S03 tires, but it seems like they only make them in 245/35, 275/30 for 20's.

How bad is it if I go with the slightly thicker tires??

i don't know what is the real reason behind it, I guess it really stupid.
The RTA (Road Traffic Authority) and Police pulled my other car Honda Civic EK4 last time(fully mod) which had 17" wheel on, they said it illegal too big for the car haha how crazy is that? I seem people put 20" on as well, they still can drive. and they said the max i can go is 16" (either go smaller or bigger by 1" of the standard wheel.)
I have to pull other parts from my car to clear the defect
- Exhauted system (cos they are n't original)
- Air Filer Pipe (only for racer not on street)
- Techco 5" (block the view)
- and sticker on the front window (blocking the sun, u know those Mugen sticker)
I can't remember it quite long ago, i had to pay the fine about $500. :0
Man, it make me crazy, i just want to move out to other country where i can do whatever i want to do. ;0

I don't know what other state is but Sydney and Melbourne definitely..
I think most part of australia.. not so sure.
