MP3 CD playback capacity?

Sorry to stir up past threads but for those of you with MP3 playback capability from the Command unit, can anyone tell me what the largest capacity it is capable of reading (sorry no manual handy)? Like an idiot, yesterday I ripped a number of CDs at the 675-700Mb limit and all are unreadable. I had a 'left-over' cd at about 300Mb and it worked just fine.

Thoughts?

Sorry if this came up earlier but I couldn't find it using Search.

Thanks.

Yeah, I have the same problem, some disks worked and some didn't. I know the 100 songs limit but there appears to be other issues..

I have found that the system has problems with mp3 files that have anything embedded within them, such as the album covers from iTunes. I keep a separate log in on my computer with 'clean' mp3s to burn for the car.

Dang. The 100 song limit would have choked on the 700MB CDs. All the CDs were quickly made using TDK 700MB R/W CDs (in write once mode) WindowsXP and the Writable CD folder (no cool burning software on my work machine). Anyway, I'll play around with it a bit more. I have a ton of MP3 with 'extended' ID3v2 tags so I wonder if that might affect it too. In any case, if I come across any other info I'll post it. Thanks all!

Let me know if there are other limitations I should be aware of. Thanks!

You realize that many '05 models can play MP3 DVDs via the single-slot drive in Comand. This is a wonderful feature that DC apparently has now decided to drop, so yours may not. Given the vast capacity, it's worth checking out, though.

I have almost my entire 200-CD collection on three DVDs and it's glorious.

I was wondering why I couldnt get any of my mps's to play in my 2005 kompressor with command. All of my mp's were downloaded using itunes. Does anybopy know of a way to clean these songs of the embedded info so I can use them.

I do not have a DVD MP3 drive, but I do have a CDROM drive that reads MP3s. I have never had any issues (yet).

I use the 800 MB CDROMs and I put between 110 and 160 songs on each. I simply make sure that they are all MP3 files and they are uncooked. Then I categorize them by making one level of folders. I then simply drag all the MP3s into the folders I want and then burn it on a CDROM.

Works SO well and I like it SO much that I am going to have Steve from MBenzNL swap my 6-disc co changer for a MP3 changer. Will all 7 disks MP3 capable I will have 1,000+ songs to choose from. That is just fine with me and beats messing with an external MP3 player.
